Congratulations to Elyse Braner who continues to do an amazing job for S4 in the New England region. Today she's published in the Smith College Sophian. In her article, Changing Policies for a Changing America, she writes about how Social Security reform is necessary and feasible because of the changes in American society. Check it out!

Waking the Dead: After the Election, Could Social Security Get Congress. Attention?

According to Susan Ferrechio of Congressional Quarterly, Congress and the Bush administration could make a new push for Social Security reform after the Fall elections. Other news reports have also indicated a renewed reform effort in 2007.

According to Ferrechio, newly elected House Majority Leader John A. Boehner, R-Ohio, admits that Social Security changes will not be considered anytime soon, but says he's willing to make a push for what President Bush wants — later.

"I think we ought to set about the work of getting ready to do this next year," Boehner said Tuesday. "And that means laying groundwork and having serious conversations among legislators on both sides of the aisles and in both chambers."

So, get ready for Round Two of the battle over individual accounts, provided that Republicans do well on Election Day.
