Facebook and MySpace ROCK!!
January 11th 04:11:55 AM

In case you haven't noticed, Facebook and Myspace are kind of a big deal. I mean, the other day I saw a girl in the mall wearing a shirt that said "That's it, you're off my top 8." Do you know what it was referring to? That's right -- her top 8 friends on MySpace. I personally am in LOVE with these two incredible networking tools because it is just another way I can help spread the PRA-love. Now I can not only email, call or text message people about the need for Social Security reform (Yes, I text message incessantly about reform. That's how cool I am, give me your number if you want a text.), I can also send messages, post bulletins, create groups and advertise via MySpace and Facebook.

Today, I received a real good message on Facebook.  I had asked someone if they were planning on hitting up DC for CPAC in March and the person responded with: "I would, but the money I was planning on using to pay for the trip was spent on my Social Security taxes!"

This message not only made me laugh, but also hinted at one of the reasons I personally care so much about Social Security reform and why I think so many other people in our generation SHOULD care about it.  It’s about FREEDOM!  Yes – these tax dollars we are paying into a failing system represent a large chunk of our paychecks!  This college student, like so many others, has limited income because he only works a part time job, and is feeling the pain of having to give such a large portion to FICA every paycheck.  Our Social Security taxes (and taxes in general) can limit what we can do, like hinder some from traveling to DC for CPAC to check out S4’s rockin booth.

Sadly, if nothing is done to the current system, the taxes will only be RAISED, therefore taking even more of our freedom to decide on our own what we spend our hard earned dollars on.  If paying even MORE in taxes and having LESS freedom seems like a bleak and less than desirable picture, then I would encourage you to utilize the great networking tools that are available for all, free of charge – Facebook and Myspace – and start spreading the PRA-love to all your friends.  Just encourage all your friends online to join our S4 Facebook and MySpace groups…every person to join helps make our voice to Congress that much LOUDER!  I’m hoping the next time I go to the mall, I see a girl wearing a shirt that says, "My newsfeed says S4 is largest group in Facebook History."
