SCREWS SCREWS SCREWS

Many say our generation doesn't care about the issue of Social Security, so it's really irrelevant to be talking about reforming it. Social Security may not be the topic on every college student's mind, but I happen to believe that when students are told the FACTS pertaining to it, they are almost ALWAYS in favor of reform.
The other day, I was at a college in Oregon, trying to get students to send in screws to their senators, because "We're getting 'SCREWED' by Social Security," and was excited to see that many students, in addition to simply signing the petition, would include their personal thoughts and opinions regarding the current system. One student wrote, "I am concerned that my Social Security benefits will not be around by the time I retire. It saddens me to think that I will pay into the program my entire life yet it won't be around to give me the benefits I deserve by the time I retire. Can you please consider improving things to secure my future??"
Another student said, "I am a college student and I vote in every election. My future is already stressful enough to plan for without the uncertainty of Social Security. FIX IT!"
I think these student's thoughts are representative of students EVERYWHERE...that's why it's so important for us to actively reach out and spread the message to everyone we know! If you'd be interested in learning more about our screw petition drive, let me know -- I can hook you up with all the things necessary to make it happen; it's super easy, and fun too!
I'm not even kidding, when I'm standing there at the table, I ask everyone walking by if they were looking for the table where they can send screws to their senators. Then I pause and wait for the confused look to appear on their faces, then I say "WELL HERE IT IS! YOU FOUND IT!" They smile and obviously want to know what this screw-sending-business is. SO bam - Social Security BECOMES something that our generation knows and cares about! Take that all you anti-reform people who don't have any faith in our generation!!
