It's Not Over Until We Say It Is!!!
September 23rd 09:51:05 PM

Some anti-reform parties have already declared victory in the Social Security debate. Talk about jumping the gun. Young workers have too much to lose without Social Security reform. Contrary to what Washington has to say, this isn't a Democrat or Republican issue. It's a problem facing us all. We here at S4 say the debate is still on. We're non-partisan because the Social Security funding problem doesn't target just Democrats or Republicans: all of us young workers will lose equally. We're willing to wait for Congress to confirm a few Supreme Court nominees and come to the aid of Americans suffering in Katrina's wake. We're willing to wait because we can't afford not to. It is OUR retirement futures that are on the line.

I can't believe that some people are saying that we are attempting to END Social Security! What nonsense! We are merely looking at the numbers. The numbers state that Social Security is about to go into a bankruptcy hole that it can't get out of unless we do something now. We must prevent this from happening! We are not suggesting that Social Security be done away with. We are saying what is true: SS needs to be reformed, or today's young workers will be detrimentally impacted by inaction. And the language on that website! I think that there are not many of us who have never cursed, but on that site, they do it all over the place! I mean really, how unprofessional! They lose credibility when they lower their standards of communication. You can read my latest article here: http://www.opinioneditorials.com/freedomwriters/cliakos_20050923.html

The fact that you're not trying to end socialist insecurity is precisely why your proposals are not good policy. Social Security: End it, Don't mend it.
